Whew!  There are countless others that I could list, but thats all I have the patience for today.  I’ll be sure and do a follow-up post before too long.

Tom Haney

I just found Tom online.  Totally serene, classic automata.  Check out “Dubious”.

Stephane Halleux

Still one of my favorites.  A man after my own heart as far as found objects are concerned.

Benjamin Cowden

Recent addition to the AKA collective.  Way classy mechanical sculptures.

Les Machines de L’Ile

Only the single most humbling outfit out there.  Totally mind blowing huge mechanical animals.  Naturally I’m most fond of their squid.

Michael Ulman

Cool machines made from all sorts of materials.  Some functioning, some not.  I really can’t decide which I like more.

Edouard Martinet

Animal sculpture from scrap metal.  I like his insects the best.

Jeff De Boer

Metal sculptor of the high craft variety.  I am most taken with his suits of meticulous armor for cats and mice.

Ernie Fosselius

Automata is cool.  Its even cooler when its built into a mobile museum.

Chris Eckert

Very slick kinetic art, as well as other forms of sculpture.

Christopher Conte

Spooky little metal sculptures.  Most are inspired by insects and contain some found objects.

Arthur Ganson

We can’t forget Arthur Ganson.  Easily the most influential figure in this line of work.

Greg Brotherton

Greg is another metal master with a tendency towards figurative work.  His latest involve some kinetic elements too.  He is also co-owner of the awesome Device Gallery.

Reuben Margolin

Reuben’s sculptures really need to be seen to be believed.  Large, ceiling hung, kinetic models of wave forms.

Christopher Palmer

Christopher knows how to make anything.  Often this takes the form of kinetic sculpture.  Often he works tirelessly to help me with my own pieces.

Arthur Gould

Yup, my dad.  Check his beastly portrait of his own father.

Theo Jansen

Very eerie kinetic pieces that move by way of wind and fluid pressure.

Jessica Joslin

Speaking of eerie.  Here are some lovely little pieces fashioned from old bones and brass hardware.
