The pieces start with a steel armature, they are then modeled with plasticine clay, and finally cast in fiberglas (Step Mother shown for scale).

This piece will strongly reference classic images of Saint Sebastian.  Above are some images to show some of the research process.

The portrait of my Step Mother will reference a small ivory figure once used in chinese medicine to assist in the delicate business of discussing a ladies ailments with her physician  without any improper involvement of her own body.  It should be noted that Cynthia is a practicing acupuncturist.  As I mentioned above, you can see some of Arthur’s finished work at his website, and I will post more images here as the work progresses.
